Tzedakah is for the purpose of bringing justice and balance into communal life. Tikun Olam - "Reparation of the World," has been engraved into the front and the verse from Psalms: cHesed v'emet nifgashu - "benevolence and truth meet" is engraved on the back.
The lid, which is removable and also has a circular hole on top where money can be inserted, has the word Tzedakah etched on two sides. The main body of the box is copper. The lid, feet and handles are brass. Colored oxides and fire have been used to bring out the etched
and engraved letters.
