Cosmological Seder Plate

The Cosmological Seder Plate follows the practice of the 16th century kabbalistic school of Yitzchak Luria to associate the ten ritual Passover symbols with the ten Divine Emanations, s'firot, through which time and space were created. The first three s'firot, Keter, Chochma and Binah correspond to the three matzahs. On the seder plate itself are found the following correspondences:

Z'roah (shankbone), holds the place of the cHesed, on the top right hand side of the plate.
Beitzah (egg), represents the s'fira of gevurah, on the top left.
Maror (bitter herbs), corresponds to tiferet, located in the center.
cHaroset (chutney) - netzacH, on the bottom right.
Karpas (sanscrit word meaning "woven fabric" but represented on the plate by parsley") - hod, bottom left.
Hazeret (sprouting horseradish top) - yesod, located on the bottom center.

MalcHut, the tenth s'fira, is represented by the plate itself.

Encircling the perimeter are the fifteen mnemonic steps of the seder, which allude to the unfolding of the mystical cosmology.

This Seder Plate comes with the Crestone Haggadah, which enumerates the underlying cosmological process behind the 15 steps.
