A six-pointed star geometry has been etched and cut into the top. The menorah may either rest on a table or shelf or be mounted on the wall from this cutwork opening as illustrated by this picture.
The well where the votive candles have been placed in this picture (8 fit perfectly) can be replaced with floating candles or floating oil wicks. Using oil in place of candles would allow for the possibility of the continuous burning of the lights thoughout the eight days of the festival by carefully replenishing the oil in the well so as not to extinguish the burning flames. Eight floating wicks ( p'til tzaf) are included with the menorah.
The shamash has it's own small copper well affixed to the far right side of the front flap. The shamash well is 1/2" in diameter to accomodate either a candle or an oil wick.
The backplate has been placed over a flame to bring out it's beautiful patinations. Small amounts of ink were used to outline the forms and bring out the engraved script.
