The Black Madonna as the Shechinah, Binah and
the Empress card of the Major Arcana

The Hebrew text at the top is from Exodus 25:8 -
      V’asu li mikdash v’shachanti b’tocham
“Make me a space that is holy and I will dwell within (each of) you.”

The Hebrew letter bet is in the center of the lute rose heart/belly, representing the essence of Binah, the ever-pregnant divine emanation where Wisdom incubates.

Binah is the third s’firah of the Tree of Life in the Hebraic mystical tradition. In the tarot deck it translates as the Empress Card (Mother Nature) of the Major Arcana, indicated by the Roman numeral "III" seen at the base of the lute rose.

This is a true icon whose Presence can be felt when one enters the room where She resides.

The lute rose is backed in amber mica through which a light shines. The frame is mahogany.
The signature in Hebrew translates as: “through the hand of Shoshana.”   23.75" x 20"
